In André Breton's 1928 Surrealist love story Nadja, a chance encounter allows the narrator, André, to meet an enchanting woman who introduces herself as Nadja. She explains in Russian that her name means "the beginning of the word hope, and because it’s only the beginning." Life’s most precious moments begin with hope. With this in mind, and inspired by The Lover's Flower—one of 44 illustrations included in the novel—these earrings were first conceptualized in 2020. Pearls symbolize timeless beauty, the evil eye offers protection, and rose drops represent purity, love, and beauty.
